Winter Wedding at the Hyatt Centric

April 30, 2018

The warm side of winter weddings

With the endless winter and some must needed colorful days, we are looking back those first weddings of 2018. It was a great surprise to have seven winter weddings in Chicago (what is considered low season for wedding photographers), but with a grateful heart and a few extra layers, we made it through!!!

Anny and Steve wedding had a combination of both cultures. From shaving the groom , buying the bride, and the pig dance; the entire day was about celebrating their traditions and the union of these lovely couple.

I have to confess that when we arrived to Sv Kiril I Metodij church , Juancho and I looked at each other like “this is going to be FUN”. The bright colors, symbolisms, the crowns, the candles, and pretty much everything of this Macedonian orthodox ceremony was magnificent.

Here is just a few favorites of this winter wedding that will make you forget the cold side of this endless season.

Always an honor to work along with talented vendors:

Floral: Juliet Tan

Venue: Hyatt Centric Chicago Magnificent Mile

BEHIND THE LENS

MEET
Juancho + Johana

We’re Johana and Juancho — partners in life, creativity, and capturing love stories across the globe. Juancho’s journey began with bold determination: he moved from Colombia to the U.S. with nothing but vision, passion, and a deep love for people’s stories. He bought the best lens on the market before even owning a camera, and after his first engagement session with friends, he came home glowing. That spark turned into a decade-long career rooted in emotion, connection, and purpose. Juancho has a magnetic personality — the kind that makes fast friends with strangers on planes, in grocery aisles, and even with our UPS guy. Weddings, with all their energy, humanity, and beautiful chaos, are his favorite kind of playground.

I bring a different kind of energy to the team. With a background in modeling and a career as a radio and TV host, I’ve always lived in creative spaces — and now I channel that into editorial work and wedding storytelling. Juancho likes to call my eye “the girly point of view,” but really it’s about noticing what often goes unseen: the softness, the glances, the stillness in between the big moments. Maybe it’s the journalist in me, but I’m always drawn to the why behind the image. Together, we balance each other — and we love creating with people who value that harmony of heart and art.
